CAN-BIKE is the only accredited program that teaches cycling and riding safety. Courses are taught exclusively by instructors certified by the CAN-BIKE program. All Instructors are knowledgeable about the Highway Traffic Act and will teach you skills such as anticipating traffic dynamics, recognizing road hazards and collision-avoidance techniques.
CAN-BIKE courses will build your skills and confidence and covers all levels of riders whether you are just learning to balance on two wheels or you are a seasoned rider and just want to learn what your rights are as a cyclist.

CAN-BIKE Level1 - Fundamentals of Cycling
CAN-BIKE Level 2 - Cycling Basics
(Each Level is about 3 hours of training over 3 days)
Group size capped at 3 participants
Learn how to balance on 2 wheels and develop your bike handling skills. Topics include helmet law and safety, how to select a suitable bike and size, steering, braking and signaling. The course is held in a safe paved area off road and away from traffic. By the end of Level 1 you will be able to balance on a bike, steer and brake safely. Level 2 will build on your confidence and develop practical skills like signaling, blind spot checking, situational awareness and develop your finer muscle control on the bike.
On request Level 1 and Level 2 can be combined into 1 course of 5 hours over 4 or 5 days.
Core Cycling Skills (8 hours total instruction over 2 days)
Group size 6 participants max
Learn how to manage yourself on residential roads and on bike infrastructure throughout the city. This course includes more in depth information regarding helmet safety, The Highway Traffic Act (HTA), proper bike sizing and develop defensive bike handling skills. The course is suitable for riders who wish to safely ride through quiet residential areas, multi-use trails as well how to ride on busier streets with bike infrastructure. The course consists of a classroom session and road session and is a stepping stone to Level 4, Advanced Cycling Skills.
Advanced Cycling Skills (14 hours total instruction over 3 days)
Group size 6 participants max
Learn how to manage yourself on any road without bike specific infrastructure. This course has a Level 3 prerequisite which can be waived with instructors evaluation and approval. Theory of Traffic Dynamics is studied in depth as well as learning how to be self sufficient on a bike when traveling longer distances. This course is a must for anyone planning on commuting by bike anywhere the road takes you and includes a classroom session, a road session and test, and a written exam. A Level 4 Certificate will be issued. Level 4 is also a stepping stone for anyone wishing to become a CAN-BIKE instructor.
